Jeremy Weiss:
Jeremy Weiss grew up in Toronto, Canada where he was introduced to
hockey at a young age. He moved to Utah in 9th grade and became the
All-time Leader in Career Goals, and Total Points in Utah High School
Hockey. As team MVP and leading scorer, he led Timpanogos High School to
a State Championship and also won two League MVP awards before moving
back to Toronto to play two years of Jr. "A" hockey in the Ontario
Provincial Junior Hockey League.
Coach Weiss forfeited his last year of Jr. Hockey eligibility in order
to serve a full-time mission in Brazil for the LDS church.
Currently, he plays Collegiate Hockey for the Provo IceCats and was the
team's leading scorer last season, finishing 9th in the nation in
overall points (ACHA DII).
Dave Spice:
Coach Spice was also born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He played
goalie for the Bramalea Jr. Blues in what is now the Ontario Provincial
Junior Hockey League. After his Jr. "A" career, Coach Spice moved to
Provo where he graduated from the Marriot School at BYU where with a
degree in Business Operations. During the 2002 Olympics, Coach Spice
stood in as the practice goalie for the Czech Republic National Team.
Coach Spice's extensive coaching experience is a great asset to the
Weiss Tech Hockey program. He has coached various youth travel teams,
and has also had over 3 years of experience coaching at the Jr. Level
with Stan Weiss. This past season, Coach Spice led the Timpanogos High
School hockey team to a State Championship.
Coach Spice believes in teaching the fundamentals at a young age. This
helps players to evolve into well rounded competitors. He also feels
that passing on a passion for the game is essential to keeping a player
motivated.
Assistant Coaches:
Weiss Tech Hockey gives local players, who have achieved higher levels
of skill, the opportunity to assist in instructing our younger students.
This not only provides the youngsters with positive role models who are
close to their age, but helps to build the older players' teaching
abilities. This is part of Weiss Tech Hockey's long term plan to build
the quality of coaching in Utah.
In the past we have had players from Championship High School Teams,
Midget Travel Teams, as well as Teams at the Collegiate Level, assisting
with the on ice instruction.
